I use internet all the time, I use it to study, to relax, to talk with friends, to do many things. For this reason, I visit a lot of websites like Netflix, Cuevana2, Facebook, etc. But the one that I use and visit the most is YouTube (www.youtube.com).  Nowadays everybody knows what YouTube is and what it looks like, it is a web where you can upload, view and comment videos, you can also subscribe to other users.  I think YouTube can be a great tool for studying if you know how to use it, there is a huge amount of information, not all of it its useful so you must be careful. There are many channels dedicated to science you can find experiments, didactic information, videos with the point of view of professionals, etc. This website has really helped me to understand a lot of new topics, I had understood things that I didn't understand from the explanation of the teacher, because in YouTube you can find a lot of videos of solved exercises of calculus, chemistry, physics, e

The music in my life.

I love music, it’s part of my daily routine I always listen to music when I’m walking,when I’m studying,   in the subway, etc.  My favorites genres are J-Rock (Japanese rock), Rock and Pop. By far my most loved bands are The Gazette and Imagine dragon. The Gazette has been my favorite band since I was 14, it’s a Japanese Rock band, they came to Chile in 2003, I went to the concert, I was in the first row jumping and singing until I was completely exhausted, it was wonderful. I think one of the best ways to enjoy music is going to a concert. I still like most of the music that I heard as a kid, I still sing to Disney’s and old anime’s songs. However, sometimes I have heard so many times the same song that I get bored of it, the same happens if I use one of them as my alarm. In movies, I always like the soundtracks of Studio Ghibli, like the one in Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle or When Marnie was there,  they are just instrumental songs, I like the harmony in thi

I don’t think I have a favorite photograph, I love all of the old photos that my parents have in boxes, the one of their and mine childhood, our family, our vacations, etc. We see them sometimes and is nice to remember things that happen so long ago. For this reason is hard to pick just one, but if I have to choose I would pick out one when my dog, Mochi, was still a puppy. Probably my favorite is one where my dog is standing over a stuffed  dinosaur. I took it almost 9 years ago, when she was just 1 month old. I think I like this photo so much because is one of the few that I have of her when was so tiny, it’s a precious memory. I really regret not having taken more photograph of my dog, she grow up really fast and I only took a few photos of her, now I took as many photos as I can.

My favorite book and film:

I enjoy reading and I try to read as much as I can, I don't have a favorite book nor do I have a favorite genre,  but I really enjoy horror and mystery. My favorite writers are Lovecraft and Stephen King, I read their book since high school. My favorite book written by  Stephen King is “IT”, when I was younger   I had a lot of nightmares because of the movie but now I love the book and the film. One of my most-liked short story of Lovecraft is “ At the Mountains of Madness ”. I think you should read this authors because they have great stories and they write really well. One of my favorite film is “Spirited Away ” directed by  Hayao Miyazaki , animated by  Studio Ghibli . I think it is a beautiful story with great and unique characters and music, and the draws are just beautiful. I first saw it when it was released in 2001, and since then I have seen it a lot of times.

My favorite piece of technology:

My smartphone is my favorite object, I also love my computer and my TV but I think cellphones are more useful, because you can do a lot of things with it, you can search almost anything, and you can play game, read books or just listen music on it. I started using cellphones in middle school, at first I didn’t use it much, just to play or call my mom, but with time I started to use it more and more. Now I use it every day and for several hours, especially when I’m travelling in the subway. I think life would be more difficult without it, for example, when I need to go to someplace and I don’t know how to get there I can use google map and I know what transport to take. Besides, I would have to carry on a lot more weight in my bag than I already do, because I will have to carry books, maps, something to listing music, etc. Thank for reading.

About some of my decisions

When I was a child I wanted to be a vet, a doctor or a singer, but when I was in high school I decided that I wanted to study anything related with Japan. For this reason, when I gave PSU for the first time I applied to translation in Japanese, Portuguese and English, this was my only option. The second time that I gave PSU, I realized I wanted to study food engineering, but this time I also applied to nutrition as a second option. I finally choose food engineering because I thought I was more interesting, especially because I was looking forward to working in the future with fruits and vegetables, or making new types of food. I think university is a good experience that make you grow up a lot and help you to find new things and new people. Thank for Reading.

Hello, my name is Evelyn Tapia, I’m 25 and I was born in Santiago. I like to read books and see scary movies. I’m studying food engineering and I’m in my second year. I live with my parents, my sister and my dog. My mom is a housekeeper, my father works at NESTLE and my sister is working for ALMA project, but at the end of this month she will start her PhD in Holland. My dog’s name is Mochi (she is the best dog in the whole universe).   I used to study translation in Japanese-Portuguese and English at the University of Santiago of Chile (USACH). However, I really hated it, especially in the last year when I decided to change my career. Then I worked for a year in an air conditioning company while at the same time I was studying for the PSU. At first I wanted to study nutrition but I change my mind at the last minute.  Thank for reading.
